It seems to be wholly Shillitoe porn these days. I wouldn't mind but I see him every day at uni. The bands our childhood though, mine, Ben's, Mike's. Saying nothing, fighting, the cold, the unimaginable rudeness of those condoms, the sexual politics of Whit Friday and coaches. And the love that you now feel for faux villains like Neil and Ilona, Richards Glenns Chris' who are responsible for a good part of your sexual development, and the popular prophets Graham, Geoff and Steve Tarry. And then you find this site, and these people that brought you up are still there, in a blue frame. I wonder what people do without bands, without Poulton Band, and why there aren't more girls here. I must say I look back on my years with the band most fondly, the copius amounts of woodpecker consumed 'chez 'Catholic Club...freezing my T***s off playing bloody Xmas tunes outside St. Chads, ending up at the ridiculously overcrowded Thatched xmas eve.....those were the days! I'm in Hongkong at the mo, insomnia has struck so thought I'd have a mess around on the computer ,glad I did as the memories have come flooding back. | Comments | Just seen the results for the regionals, well done on coming so far up the ladder first time at first section recently, if we (sandhurst silver band) can come 7th in our section (3rd Northern Landscapes - Peter Graham) I think we'll be fairly happy. (but then again we all want to win don't we?) Say hello to the conductor for me! I think I might know him! We had our rehearsal tonight and Chris Boswer who came up with me to Preston to listen to you play Spectrum recently had his mobile set to pick up the results off 4barsrest. needless to say it went off half way through our thrid movement! It was fairly well in tempo too! It certainly turned a few heads! I had to wait until the break before we could find out who was where in the results. Our Third movements never been played so quickly! Golf course I'm working at will be top quality when it open next year, so very busy at the moment getting things ready for next year. Joined a local band which is called Hemel Brass Band, it is in the fourth section it only goes in a couple of contests a year, but is very busy each weekend doing concerts. She is dedicated to your band but our job HAS to come first as does most of your private lives! She has delighted me with her flugel playing and I'm sure she was a great asset to you all when you won the nationals? Therefore I was disgusted at the way she was treated on monday nights practice night (which she attended after a busy 12 hour shift) only to be told she was being dropped as flugel player cos of her lack of commitment to the band!! Whoever made this uncaring,hurtful decision should be ashamed as I know how upset she was over it. The Ambulance Service is a dedicated profession and only employs dedicated people one of which is in YOUR band!! |

I think the last time I saw the band play was back in the Autumn of 1978, London, the last time you (we at the time) qualified. Things have gone on for me now. Been in the Army ever since, and I've just taken over my own band, The Band of the Dragoon Guards. From little acorns... My first recolection was being invited at a mere 12 years of age to sit in the middle of the front row, as there was no where else suitable to put me between the likes of Roger Waring and Ian Whittaker (hi mate). The site is looking superb, a credit to you (Andy at a guess). Must pop in to rehearsal when I am next in the area. Still on Tuesdays and Friday? And what ever happened to Glynn Lloyd.....he was the individual who told me I'd never make a brass player all the time I had a ****?!? |

Life in Scotland is still good. I am in charge of a Building Surveying department of a firm of surveyors in Melrose in the Scottish Borders, having qualified and Chartered some years ago.
